 Community-Based Rehabilitation services

Located at the Recovery and Empowerment Center, Community Rehabilitation Services assist each client in their individual
recovery process. Aimed at increasing independence and building critical community support networks,
these services provide skill based, advocacy, recovery, social, recreational and employment opportunities in a group
or one on one setting.

Recovery and Work Readiness Services

Recovery & Work Readiness Services provide services to adults age 18 years or older living in the Greater Hartford area who have low income
and a diagnosis of mental illness.
Recovery and Work Readiness Services assist clients in their recovery through focusing on the
development of interpersonal skills, recovery management strategies and effective work habits. Work Readiness skills
training is provided in skill areas such as Business and Office Skills, which teaches receptionist duties, basic computer skills, word
processing and data entry, and Culinary Arts, which teaches food preparation and safe food handling skills. Clients have the
opportunity to become peer mentors enabling them to assist the training instructor with the curriculum both in and out of the
classroom.

Recovery & Work Readiness Services Include:

Business & Office Skills—Computer training in Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet use
Receptionist Training—Training on communication coordination, operating office machines, office
   management skills
Culinary Arts Program—In-house training on fundamental principles of culinary arts, basic food preparation
   skills, skill development, communication, independent living, nutrition and time management


Social Rehabilitation Services
Social Rehabilitation Services provide services to adults age 18 years or older living in the Greater Hartford area who have low income and a
diagnosis of mental illness.
Social Rehabilitation Services are aimed at reducing isolation critical to the recovery process by building
social skills and community support networks. This service offers social, recreational and leisure events and activities, as well as
advocacy services, supportive counseling, skills development, and individualized goal planning. Many of these activities are
facilitated by participants. (Member Volunteers)

The Phoenix Club
The Phoenix Club is a consumer run social club that provides educational, social and other activities. Membership is
open to any adult consumer of mental health services who lives in West Hartford, Avon, Canton, Simsbury or Farmington.
There is a monthly newsletter that publicizes all the Club’s activities. Transportation is provided. Membership is free.
