Message from the Board President

For over thirty years, members, staff and volunteers of Chrysalis Center have found ways to empower many disadvantaged and disabled residents of the Greater Hartford Area to achieve a more dignified and productive life. I am honored to serve Chrysalis as the President of the Board of Directors, not only because of its past accomplishments but because Chrysalis continues to find new and creative means to make a difference in people’s lives.

It is a special time for Chrysalis Center. We have become well known both locally and nationally for our stellar quality and efficient management of client services and we are frequently being asked to consider taking on new services and projects. As a result, we have begun to serve more people than ever before as we have carefully expanded our programs to meet the needs of our mission and our service area.

This thoughtful expansion has meant that we have had to expand in other ways as well. Our staff has grown as we now employ nearly 100 people. Our Board of Directors has expanded as we now have a larger, more diversified and a very talented group of volunteers from many sectors of our community. Naturally, with more services, more clients and more staff we need more space. Recently, we bought the old Sealtest Building on Homestead Avenue and we are in the process of completing our plans to fundraise, renovate and move many of our services into that building.

All of this creates opportunities. We are constantly looking for people who are willing to donate their time, their energy, and their gifts to help us with our mission. Another exciting way to help is by joining our Board of Directors or one of our many committees that provide oversight and stewardship to the organization. Familiarize yourself with Chrysalis Center by going through our website and give us a call at 860-525-1261 if you have any questions or if you would like to contribute in any way.
